Made specially during the Ganesha festival in August. This is a sweet made to be offered to Lord Ganesha and prepared in plenty for rest of the family as well. The taste is so divine that it is also made for the divine.
One of Lord Ganesha's favourite sweet is undoubtedly the humble modak — a creamy delicious sweet dumpling made using rice flour, jaggery and other delicacies. Lord Ganesha's love for modak has also earned him the moniker Modakpriya.
He was seated for a meal next to a young Ganapati. Lord Shiva was famished and asked to be served food immediately. Anusuya, however, said He would have to wait for Bal Ganesha to be served food first and she would serve Lord Shiva only once Ganpati's hunger had been satiated.
